Short answer: A 6,000 sq.ft banquet hall comfortably fits up to 400 guests for a wedding or reception. At Rudraksh Hotel & Banquets in Lakhisarai, the same hall is set up differently for 150, 250 or 400 guests, so a small tilak feels full and a big reception never feels cramped.
Quick facts
| Guests | Best for | Typical set-up |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 150 | Tilak, engagement, birthday | Stage + sofa clusters, part of the floor curtained off |
| 150 to 250 | Ring ceremony, reception | Stage, round tables, buffet along one side |
| 250 to 400 | Wedding with mandap, big reception | Mandap or stage at one end, rows plus tables, two buffet counters |
The question every family asks first
“Kitne log aa jaayenge?” (How many people will fit?) is the first question on almost every call to our banquet desk. The honest answer is that it depends on three things: how many people sit at once, how much space the stage or mandap takes, and where the food is served.
A hall’s “maximum capacity” is the number that fits when everyone is standing or moving around. For a wedding in Bihar, where elders sit through the pheras and most guests eat in the same room, plan with the comfortable number, not the maximum.
Layout for up to 150 guests
For a tilak, engagement or a 50th birthday, 6,000 sq.ft is more room than you need, and an empty hall looks sad in photos. So we close part of the floor and bring everything closer:
- Stage at one end with a sofa for the couple or the guest of honour.
- Sofa clusters and a few round tables near the stage, so the family can talk.
- One buffet counter on the side, close enough that elders do not walk far.
The result feels like a full, warm room, which is what you want in every photo.
Layout for 150 to 250 guests
This is the most common size for a reception or ring ceremony in Lakhisarai.
- Stage at the far end, facing the entrance, so every guest sees the couple when they walk in.
- Round tables of 8 to 10 across the middle of the hall.
- A buffet line along one long wall, with a separate counter for sweets and chaat.
- A clear path from the entrance to the stage for the couple’s entry.
Layout for 250 to 400 guests
For a full wedding, the hall is opened end to end.

- Mandap at the stage end, with seating on three sides so the elders and the bride’s family can watch the pheras without standing.
- Rows of chairs close to the mandap, and round tables further back for guests who arrive for dinner.
- Two buffet counters so the food line never gets long, plus a separately prepared Jain counter if you need one.
- DJ floor kept away from the mandap so the music and the rituals do not clash.
If your number is closer to 400, tell us early. We plan the buffet in two waves so nobody waits.
Seated or standing: what changes?
A sit-down dinner where everyone eats at a table needs more floor than a buffet where guests move. If most of your guests will eat at the same time, plan for a little under the maximum. If guests come and go through the evening, as they often do at a reception, the hall can take the full 400.
How to tell us your guest count
You do not need an exact number on day one. Send us a range, like “200 to 300”, along with your date. On the free site visit we show you both layouts on the floor, so you can see where the stage, the buffet and the mandap will go before you pay anything.
Frequently asked questions
How many guests can a 6,000 sq.ft banquet hall hold?
Up to 400 guests for a wedding or reception, depending on the layout and how many people sit at once.
What is the best hall size for 200 guests?
A hall of around 4,000 to 6,000 sq.ft. At Rudraksh, a 200-guest reception uses the full hall with round tables and a buffet along one side.
Can a big hall work for a small function?
Yes. For 100 to 150 guests, part of the floor is closed off so the room feels full.
Is there space for a mandap and a DJ in the same hall?
Yes. The mandap sits at the stage end and the DJ floor is kept apart so music and rituals do not clash.
